Robert Louis Stevenson, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, had two great desires: for freedom and for immersion in other worlds. He composed essays and travelogues, as well as his legendary adventure stories, filled with striking characters whose names send shivers down the spines of readers around the world: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Jekyll and Hyde.

Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson Limited Edition 1883 is dedicated to this imaginative storyteller, with the novel "Treasure Island" as the main inspiration for the details of the roller. The overall shape of the writing instrument was created with the impression of a historical, stretching farsightedness. Retelling the story of "Treasure Island", this edition features the famous "Hispaniola" on the body, rendered in precious black lacquer. Setting off on a voyage, the Hispaniola waves the British flag behind a small window. Following the story of the pirate rebellion, the flag can be rotated with a small knob to reveal the pirate flag.

Vertical lines reminiscent of the planks of the schooner Hispaniola and a traditional sea chest adorn the gold-plated cap. Behind the clip, the lines gather into a compass, while it itself mimics the shape of a belay pin to which the lines of a ship's rigging would be attached. The top of the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in Mother of Pearl. The cap ring is engraved with Stevenson's signature.
