This special limited edition Montegrappa roller was created on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest figures in literature - Dante Alighieri, and is inspired by the second part of his "Divine Comedy": "Purgatory".

Dante's epic tale of love, sin and redemption is considered a literary marvel and a cornerstone of the modern Italian language. Dante Alighieri: Purgatorio builds on the design of its predecessor, but features even higher levels of artistry.

Only 333 copies of this collector's edition were made - a number chosen because From the cap to the tip of the roller, each intricate element traces Dante and Virgil's ascent of Mount Purgatory. Before they go upstairs, Dante's forehead is engraved with 7 "p"s, symbolizing sin (Peccatum). In order to be able to reach Heaven, Dante must pass through the seven terraces of Purgatory and receive absolution for his sins. The details of this journey are hand painted with great craftsmanship and precision on the body of the roller.
