The history of human civilization could not be the same without artists, their unique view of the world and their many masterpieces. Montblanc draws attention to the indelible mark that artists have left on our collective culture with its Masters of Art collectible line, a series of collections honoring the great artists' quest for self-expression across disciplines, a mission that Montblanc celebrates and participates in.

Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Gustav Klimt Limited Edition 4810 pays tribute to creative visionary Gustav Klimt, considered one of the most important artists of Art Nouveau and Symbolism, celebrating his artistic beginnings in the Vienna Secession and highlighting elements of his masterpieces Pallas Athene and The Kiss in its design. In his rebellion against stereotypical concepts in art and society, Gustav Klimt pioneered the avant-garde, fusing realistic representation, ornament, and abstraction in a style that culminated in his large, subtly sensual paintings of women. One of his first paintings is a 1902 portrait of his partner and muse Emilie Flöge, rendered in a dreamy, almost mystical blue, which is the inspiration for the color of this roller.

Design Elements:

The circles, swirls, triangles and lines glinting through the semi-transparent, dark blue lacquer of the writing instrument come from his famous painting The Kiss, in which two lovers seem to dissolve into ornamental, geometric shapes through the power of emotion
Klimt used a new technique to enrich his colors with individual sections of gold leaf, giving the impression of precious stones set in gold. Covered in yellow gold on the roller, it honors this "golden phase" of Klimt
Klimt's Secession monogram on the body, represented by a gold-colored pad stamp of his initials GK, refers to his achievements for the Vienna Secession. The logo was published in the group's 14th catalog in 1902.
The clip was specially designed with reference to the painting Pallas Athene. As Athena is the goddess of both war and the arts, she is depicted as initiating the struggle for artistic freedom. The slightly curved lines ending in three spirals on the yellow gold-plated clip match the decoration on the forged metal frame
The green color at the top of the roller represents spring, the season of new beginnings. It was the color chosen as a symbol when Secession was founded in April 1897. The shape of the case was inspired by the dome of the Vienna Secession building.
The handcrafted Au 750 yellow gold feather is finely engraved with an owl that symbolizes knowledge, wisdom and insight and is considered the faithful animal companion of the Greek goddess Athena. The engraving is both a reference to Gustav Klimt's painting of Athena Pallas and to the Art Nouveau building, whose facades are decorated with sculptures of owls.
